Recommended Posts

As said many times before, Walgreen's. Ten dollars.

But if you just want to see the flames, go for it. I have thought about making one just to do it. Not for hookah purposes though.

Here's one of the posts on the single coil burner: http://www.hookahforum.com/?showtopic=32419

I would get one, but I have nowhere to plug it in, so I figured the alcohol stove would be the best option.

As for the propane torch, the RA's do random room inspections, and knowing my luck, they would do it on my room the day I get it, and propane tanks are generally frowned at. Edited by EAK1791

I have to smoke outside, and we can't store propane in the dorms so I have to use an alchohol stove. It works alright, a windcover and a a good coal stand would probably be helpful . It takes a while and It generally takes some blowing on the coal to get it going completly, but it works. I'd recomend an updraft/chimney style stove becuase it directs the heat upward better, instead of spreading it out like the one you linked.

Yeah, the one I linked was just the first one I found, and I just wanted to give a general idea. Thanks for the info!

I've tested these kinds of stoves pretty extensively while backpacking and the best/hottest/easiest one I made used a guinness can and a regular pepsi can. It can boil a little pot of water at 8,000 feet and below freezing and I'm sure it could light a couple coals with the right screen to hold them in the hot part of the flames.

The website has gone down since i built mine a couple years ago but I found it archived here.
